FAQ - When getting a puppy bred by Apple-Jacks
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you feed your puppies?
Our adult dogs are fed a carefully balanced raw diet. Our puppies are weaned onto Purina Pro Plan Puppy food and will leave us with enough food to last approximately 2–3 weeks, helping to ensure a smooth transition into their new home.
When it's time to purchase more food, simply click on the Purina image at the bottom of this page to order.

Vaccinations
All of our puppies receive their first vaccination before leaving us. Our veterinary practice uses Nobivac DHP & L4.
Your puppy will require a second (booster) vaccination 4 weeks (28 days) after their first vaccination. Puppies remaining with us until 12 weeks of age will have completed their full primary vaccination course before they leave.
Microchipping
All puppies are microchipped by our veterinary surgeon at the same time as their vaccinations. Once you have collected your puppy, ownership of the microchip will be transferred into your name.

Worming & Flea Treatment
Our puppies are wormed every two weeks from 2 weeks of age using Panacur and Drontal Puppy Wormer.
Before your puppy comes home, we recommend ordering your own worming and flea treatment so you can continue their healthcare routine without interruption. Simply click the Pet Drugs UK image at the bottom of this page to order.

Puppy Training
Our puppies are introduced to puppy pads and have experience toileting outdoors whenever possible. They will have made an excellent start, but please remember they are not fully house trained and will still require patience, consistency and continued training in their new home.

When can my puppy come home?
Our puppies leave for their new homes from 8 weeks of age, once they have:
-
Passed a full veterinary health check
-
Received their first vaccination
-
Been microchipped
Please do not arrange collection dates until we have confirmed your puppy's veterinary appointment, as appointment availability can occasionally delay vaccination by a few days.

How much are your puppies?
Our puppies are priced from:
-
Cocker Spaniels – from £2,500
-
Golden Retrievers – from £2,500
A £500 non-refundable reservation deposit is required to secure your chosen puppy.

Waiting List & Reservations
We operate a waiting list for our planned litters.
If you would like to join our waiting list, please complete our Puppy Waiting List Application Form. A non-refundable £100 waiting list deposit is required to secure your place.
Once puppies are born, families on our waiting list are contacted in order of application. Puppy viewings are usually arranged from 3 weeks of age.
Once you have chosen your puppy, a £500 non-refundable reservation deposit is required. Your £100 waiting list deposit will be deducted from this amount, leaving a balance of £400 to reserve your puppy.

Are deposits refundable?
All deposits are accepted in good faith and are non-refundable.
Deposits secure either your place on our waiting list or reserve a specific puppy exclusively for your family, meaning that puppy is no longer available to other prospective owners.
A deposit will only be refunded if:
-
The puppy becomes unavailable.
-
The puppy does not pass its veterinary health examination.
-
We decide to withdraw the puppy from sale.

I'm not quite ready for a puppy yet
We understand that work commitments, holidays and family life don't always fit perfectly around puppy collection dates.
If needed, we are happy to keep your puppy with us until they have received their 12-week booster vaccination, or even longer by prior arrangement.
Alternatively, we can add you to our waiting list for a future planned litter that better suits your circumstances.

Payment & Extended Stay Policy
Full payment is required for any puppy remaining in our care beyond 8 weeks of age, regardless of the agreed collection date.
Puppies staying with us beyond 12 weeks of age will incur a boarding fee of £15 per day, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
This fee helps cover:
-
Premium food
-
Accommodation
-
Socialisation
-
Routine care
-
Veterinary requirements

Do you sell puppies for breeding or showing?
Yes, we do consider homes looking for a puppy with breeding and/or show potential.
Puppies considered suitable for breeding or showing are offered at an additional cost and are only available to carefully selected homes. Before agreeing to a sale, we like to learn more about you, your experience, your facilities, and your future plans to ensure one of our puppies is the right fit.
Please note that while we can assess a puppy's potential based on our experience, no breeder can guarantee future show success or breeding suitability, as this depends on the puppy's development, health, and maturity.

Can you look after my puppy while we're away?
Absolutely.
We are always delighted to welcome back any puppy bred by Applejacks for holidays, boarding or emergency care, subject to availability.
